Damian Lillard’s recent trade request has sent shockwaves through the NBA. After the Portland Trail Blazers failed to fulfill their promise of building a championship roster, Lillard has made it clear that he wants out. One potential landing spot for him is the Philadelphia 76ers, and according to Brian Windhorst on ESPN, a trade involving Tyrese Maxey could be the best option for both teams.

Damian Lillard, often referred to by his nickname “Dame,” is an American professional basketball player. He was born on July 15, 1990, in Oakland, California. Lillard played college basketball for the Weber State Wildcats before being selected as the sixth overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Lillard quickly made an impact in the NBA and established himself as one of the league’s premier point guards. He has earned numerous accolades throughout his career, including multiple NBA All-Star selections and All-NBA Team honors. Lillard is known for his exceptional scoring ability, deep three-point range, clutch performances, and leadership on the court.

Throughout his tenure with the Trail Blazers, Lillard has consistently been one of the team’s leading scorers and playmakers. He has developed a reputation for his ability to hit long-range shots, including several memorable buzzer-beaters in crucial moments of games. Lillard’s scoring prowess and leadership have made him the face of the Trail Blazers franchise.

If Lillard were to join the Sixers, it would undoubtedly have a significant impact on the team. Despite turning 33 this July, Lillard continues to elevate his game year after year. His inclusion in the prestigious NBA 75 list speaks volumes about his abilities. Pairing Lillard with a championship-caliber roster could unlock even more potential and make him an even more formidable force.

With Lillard on board, the Sixers would form a new “big three” alongside Joel Embiid and James Harden. Embiid, the reigning MVP, and Harden, a former MVP, already provide an immense amount of talent and skill to the team. Adding Lillard to the mix would create an unstoppable trio that could dominate the Eastern Conference.

Lillard’s arrival would give the Sixers a dynamic and explosive point guard who can both score and facilitate the offense. While Harden possesses similar skills, he is a natural shooting guard. Having Lillard as the primary playmaker would allow Harden to focus on perimeter scoring, while Embiid can dominate inside the paint.

If this trio comes to fruition, the Sixers would have a legitimate chance at winning their first championship in over a decade. Lillard’s arrival could be the missing piece that propels them to the top of the league. The prospect of “Dame Time” in Philadelphia has fans and analysts alike buzzing with excitement and anticipation for what this new era could bring.

Damian Lillard requested a trade after months — well, years — of speculation wondering when, or if, he’ll actually want out of Portland. It all came to a head on July 1, the first full day of free agency, but that was just the first step in this process that could potentially drag out for months.

Lillard has made his intentions clear: after over a decade of loyalty to the Portland Trail Blazers, which reached its playoff peak when the team made it as far as the Western Conference finals in 2019, he wants a real chance at competing for a championship and Portland isn’t the place to do that anymore. The All-Star guard, who’ll be 33 when next season starts, has listed his preferred destination, the Miami Heat, unsurprising given the public flirting he’s been doing with the team in recent weeks. But while Lillard may want to take his talents to South Beach, that doesn’t mean he’ll end up there.

The Trail Blazers intend on getting the best offer, regardless of Lillard’s wishes, something that could force a standoff between he and the franchise, per the Miami Herald. Lillard doesn’t have a no-trade clause, so he can’t exactly veto any trade offer that the Blazers receive, and despite the possibility that he could end up somewhere else, the All-Star guard has remained “resolute” in his desire to play for the Heat.

Though this could drag out for some time, when a star player requests a trade they usually get the destination they want, even if it means waiting for several months. If the Blazers are willing to play the waiting game, then it could give the Heat some time to put together an adequate trade package to land Lillard.

Already there have been reports suggesting that this could turn into a multi-team deal, because Miami’s potential package of Tyler Herro and some picks isn’t enticing to Portland. The Brooklyn Nets have been a rumored third team that could take Herro in a deal in order for Miami to land Lillard, per SNY’s Ian Begley, but expanding trades always gets trickier and takes more time to iron out the details.

The Heat have essentially said that anyone but Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are available in a potential deal to land Lillard, but they’ll likely need some help from a third team to get this trade done. If the Nets are that third team to aid the Heat in this deal, they reportedly want to receive draft compensation for taking on the remaining three years and $93 million owed to the guard, per Begley.

Miami wants to get a deal done quickly, but if Lillard wants Damian Lillard his wish granted by Portland then the Heat will need to hope another team around the league can offer what the Trail Blazers want in return for a seven-time All-Star.

The Heat, however, face tough competition in acquiring Lillard’s services. According to renowned NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers have also expressed interest in exploring a trade for Lillard. The Portland Trail Blazers areDamian Lillard expected to prioritize deals that offer them young players and valuable draft assets, making the bidding process highly competitive.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Heat can present a Damian Lillard competitive enough trade package to prevent other teams from making an irresistible offer to the Trail Blazers. While Lillard does not possess a no-trade clause, his years of service and contributions to the Trail Blazers may prompt the organization to take his preferences into account when considering potential deals.

The Miami Heat front office will surely try to construct an appealing trade package that meets Portland’s requirements. It is expected that the Trail Blazers will prioritize the acquisition of young players and valuable draft assets to build for the future. The Heat will need to carefully navigate these Damian Lillard demands while balancing the immediate championship aspirations that come with adding a talent of Lillard’s caliber.

The NBA landscape as a whole eagerly awaits the conclusion of this high-stakes pursuit as the trade negotiations progress. The potential acquisition of Lillard by the Miami Heat would reshape the balance of power in the Eastern Conference. Lillard’s desire to join Miami cements the franchise’s reputation as an attractive destination for star players.

The Phoenix Suns have started to make someDamian Lillard buzz around the league after they confirmed their plans on wanting to waive Chris Paul. However, they aren’t done and are planning on adding another star to their already star-studded roster headlined by Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.

According to new developments, the Suns Damian Lillard are exploring the possibility of waiving or trading the 12-time All-Star. Doing this would give them a hole at the point guard position and it hasn’t been clear as to which guard they’ll pursue. Due to that, an Eastern Conference executive strongly believes that Phoenix will try to pursue Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers.

The only way for the Suns to acquire Lillard would be to trade for him. He’s currently under contract and could exercise his player option in the 2024-25 season, where he’s guaranteed to earn $48.7 million.

For Phoenix, trading for the seven-time All-Star won’t be easy. They don’t have a ton of assets they can use to trade for the star. During the 2022-23 NBA trade deadline, the team used four first-round picks to acquire Durant. Not only that, they sent three valuable players away from Phoenix, crippling their depth.

After yet another hamstring Damian Lillard issue plagued him during the 2022 NBA Playoffs in a series vs. the Miami Heat, no max deal was agreed upon; instead, Harden took a one-year deal including a near $14M pay cut to help Daryl Morey and Elton Brand make room to add P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr. in free agency.

Despite rumors all this past season longDamian Lillard that Harden might have his sights set on returning to Houston, many believed that if he did opt to stay in Philly, he would make up some of those funds he left on the table and then some.

But he came up short in the playoffs once again and Charania’s report makes it sound as if the Sixers weren’t interested in meeting Harden’s desired price point.

But SNY’s Ian Begley notes that interest on the Knicks side is “far from uniform” within New York President Leon Rose’s front office.

Woj did report that it’s “expected that Harden Damian Lillard has played his last game for Philadelphia,” but a Tweet from NBCS-Philadelphia gives the sense maybe that last part isn’t quite set in stone?

“James Harden is opting into his $35.6 million Damian Lillard deal for next season in order for the 10-time NBA All-Star and the 76ers to work together on a trade out of Philadelphia, league sources told The Athletic.

The Clippers and potentially one more team Damian Lillard are expected to emerge as interested franchises in trade talks with the 76ers, league sources say.

The 76ers made it clear throughout the process that the franchise did not see a long-term future with Harden, sources said.”

Harden turned down an extension worth more than $200M from the Brooklyn Nets back in the summer of 2021. Few doubted at the time that the three-time scoring champ would command an even bigger max offer the following summer. But he suffered another hamstring flare up and requested a trade to the Philadelphia 76ers.

After yet another hamstring issue plagued Damian Lillard him during the 2022 NBA Playoffs in a series vs. the Miami Heat, no max deal was agreed upon; instead, Harden took a one-year deal including a near $14M pay cut to help Daryl Morey and Elton Brand make room to add P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr. in free agency.
