The security guard tried to stop Lucidi, but he had already taken an elevator to the 49th floor and then climbed up the stairs to the roof. A security officer who followed him found the roof hatch open, but Lucidi was nowhere to be seen.

Police said that Lucidi was last spotted alive at 7:38 p.m. when he knocked on the window of the penthouse on the top floor, startling a maid who called the police. A source close to the investigation said that police suspect that Lucidi was trapped outside the penthouse and was seeking help before he fell.

According to his social media page, Lucidi attempted stunts in various parts of the world, including Bulgaria, Portugal, France, Ukraine and Dubai.

In a photo posted on Instagram on 16 July, Lucidi took a selfie while hanging off the stairs of the top of a building in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. He captioned the picture: “Life is too short to chase unicorns.”

Originally from France, the 30-year-old is known online for taking on sky-high buildings in epic climbs.

Hong Kong officials say he arrived at the building at around 6pm on Thursday 27 July and told security he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor.

But the alleged pal confirmed he wasn’t acquainted with Lucidi and a security officer attempted to apprehend him – but he’d already secured an elevator.

The daredevil was captured on security footage arriving on the 49th floor, seeing him use the stairs to climb to the top of the very high building.

However, Lucidi fell off the building before officers arrived and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

And now, his final social media post has resurfaced.

Posted on 16 July, accompanied by a sky-high selfie in Bulgaria, Lucidi wrote: “Life is too short to chase unicorns,” with a skull-face emoji.

Since his death was announced, fans of Remi have left comments on his Instagram posts in tribute, writing: “He lived his life fully. Not many can say that.”

Others put: “Stakes are high searching for amazing experiences. Eternal respect, rest in peace.”

And one comments: “RIP bro, they don’t understand the thrill and love for this. U died but u died in good spirits doing what makes u happy and proud, I hope u were set with Christ.”

Police found Lucidi’s sports camera at the scene where he was confirmed dead, containing videos of extreme sports.

An unidentified source said it is possible the climber was trapped outside the penthouse, knocking on the window to get help before the fall occurred.

Police have yet to issue an official cause of death.

Hong Kong’s Tregunter Towers complex consists of three towers – the third, Tregunter 3, was once the tallest all-residential building in the world.

The top floor of Tregunter 3 stands at 327m above sea level, its title was usurped when the Trump World Tower was completed in 2001.

According to his posts on social media, Lucidi had climbed structures across the globe, from Dubai and Thailand to France and Mexico.
